When I see this, I sometimes think it's quite ironic.
Because, you know, it's the mask that allows them to perform a "daring act." Well, it's a criminal act, haha. When an individual's identity is hidden, expression is unleashed. What does this mean?
One day, thankfully, I received an invitation to give an art lecture at Zushi High School in Kanagawa Prefecture, and this bank robber came to mind.
Let's have the students wear masks and say bad things about school and society in front of everyone!
You know, as an artist, I think expressing oneself is really important. At the same time, I also think that no one can say brilliant things from the very beginning. So, let's just shout out whatever is on our minds, anything at all! But, you know, if you don't create a situation, it won't be interesting, it will be boring!
So, in front of the high school students, I first put on a paper bag, drew a new personality on it, you know, a face, and shouted, "Politicians are idiots!"
It's kind of funny, you know, the face on the paper bag is also comical.
All the high school students in the class I was in charge of were girls. At the final presentation, they all wore paper bags on their heads in the auditorium and said various complaints. It was the best! And in the end, they all ran up to me and said, "Thank you!" They're so cute, all of them.
