At 27, I quit my job with almost zero savings and decided to move to the US! I started working part-time in 1997. In the end, I saved over 3 million yen in less than a year working the night shift at Sagawa Express...

It was around 1998, I think, when the yen suddenly plunged to 140. The 3 million yen I had worked hard to save only became a little over 20,000 dollars. Seriously!!!

The yen-dollar exchange rate weighed heavily on me. I couldn't complain to anyone. You have to overcome unreasonable things! Inside, I was thinking "Damn it!" But, oh well, it can't be helped.

Right, back in my company days, I had savings. I spent money to meet people. Meeting older people and hearing their stories was also a learning experience. It was like tuition, I didn't get treated much. But it was good. I went out every night. Right, always self-investment. The small amount of dollars I clutched when I went to America. That didn't increase either. Always self-investment even abroad. But even without money, for some reason, I never imagined myself dying in the streets. With faith, it was a hard choice, one shot.

Now, facing the 140 yen to dollar exchange rate (the noisy world doesn't matter to me), I'm thinking about recalling my past and seriously starting to "collect" the money I've "imposed" on myself. That's what investing is apparently about.

So, I'm starting a new hard choice and adventure.

It depends on the person, but for me, art is patience. Sometimes training continues for years without feeling right. Sometimes you get excited and disappointed by the illusion of thinking "This is it!". Art can take time.

You know, I've been thinking about a new project for 6-7 years, and the process is finally coming together. It feels a little "right". This is where it starts. Shall we do it! Just like that time, this time too, let's break 140 yen again.
