I used to commute to Baja Mexico every week, sometimes every day, crossing the border. The job wasn't very interesting, but I looked forward to enjoying Mexico every time I crossed by car. Driving in Mexico is interesting. Back then, there were navigations, you had to memorize the routes, and the city layouts and roads were complex, with holes in the middle of the road, making it tough for outsiders. Also, sticking to the lanes is definitely not a 'good thing.' Obsessing over such things can be even more dangerous if you get in the way. Of course, you push the limits at traffic lights. If you don't aggressively go in the direction you want, you'll be left behind in your lane. That tension, or rather, that game-like harmony, is interesting. What I learned there, I think, was that it's fun to surrender yourself to the wavelength of harmony! Conversely, it also meant that 'sometimes, strictly following rules or imposing one-sided discipline on others disrupts the wavelength.' It's better to go with the flow of the local 'wave,' or rather, to surrender to what's happening around you. And the most important lesson, I would say, was 'when you surrender to harmony, people around you are drawn to you.' When surrendering to harmony, 'awareness' and 'sensitivity' to what's happening around you are also necessary. Once you understand that fundamental, you learn that if you jump into what you believe in with both hands and feet, it becomes interesting, and people are drawn to you. My personality suited Mexico very well, I met wonderful people, and I was able to do art work several times. Changing the subject, the other day, a lizard was resting on the veranda. It looked at me, but just as it was, it stayed still and relaxed under the afternoon sun. I had intention of chasing it away, and we shared a harmonious time in that space for about 30 minutes. In such moments, strangely, various creatures like spiders and butterflies also come closer to me. I realize that everything depends on me. I'm not very good at interacting with people, but if I can be mindful, place myself where I can surrender, and cherish those important moments, I think I might still be able to get by. The time with the lizards reminded me of the harmony I experienced in Mexico. That was the kind of day it was. I want to go to Mexico again someday. ### Share this: - Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook - Share on X (Opens in new window) X - Share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window) WhatsApp ### Like this: Like Loading… ### Leave a Comment Cancel Reply
