# Only サイドステップの憂鬱(米 2 **Source:** https://taksanart.com/en/only-サイドステップの憂鬱(米-2 **Language:** English --- Lately, I've been thinking that, just like in sports, you don't move forward by only taking side steps. It was good that it became an opportunity for many people to generally learn about things like gender diversity, thinking, "Oh, there's that way of thinking too." However, I feel that if we are just widening the side steps (far right and left) and repeating extreme arguments there, there will be progress for a while. (If you go extremely left, the next will be the Republican Party again, and then the Democratic Party again.) My opinion there is simple. Why do you have to assert "I am non-binary" first? In my life, I've never asserted "I am a man." In America, I've had many unpleasant experiences as a minority, but I never started by saying, "I am Japanese," even when asked. So, I don't really understand... I don't really think about whether the other person is gay or a foreigner. There are many bad gay people. And transgender people too. For example, someone who likes men isn't necessarily feminine; they might just be a man who is sexually aggressive and says, "I'm gay," and gropes other men. I joke that if they did that to a woman, they'd get arrested! ... But sometimes it's not a joke. (Just because you're a sexual minority doesn't mean you can do whatever you want... there are plenty of bad-natured people, right?) It's about their personality, that's what's important! Good people are good people, matter what they are or what their preferences are. The same goes for bad people. Ultimately, unless you center the neutral position on their character, discussions about left or right, or this topic, will not PS. In countries like Japan that blindly swallow overseas information and immediately think of themselves as backward when pointed out, discussions about left and right, like in America, will occur within a narrow range of sidestepping, leading to a binary, dualistic way of thinking (the words "gay" and "gender" are foreign words. It's dangerous if you don't properly understand their meaning and usage after localization... probably. ### Share this: - Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook - Share on X (Opens in new window) X - Share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window) WhatsApp ### Like this: Like Loading… ### 2 thoughts on “Only Side Step Blues (US)” 1. I once said at work in a situation I disagreed with, "Before I am a salaryman, I am a man." People who make these claims probably aren't suited to be salarymen lol Reply 1. No doubt lol Reply ### Leave a Comment Cancel Reply
