The photo is of the NYC subway I visited in 2011. What I learned here was the attitude of 'not minding my own business'. People suddenly start playing the trumpet in the car, people start rapping, not only are there a variety of visuals to choose from, but the types of sounds are also diverse.
Tourists might have fun, but for those living here, it can be annoying at times. That's right, so if you like something, react to it. Otherwise, it's best to 'ignore' it. Just keep looking straight ahead. Like me in the photo. Lol. I learned that in NYC.
Now it's 2023, and wearing masks is optional. I get on the train. Well, about 95% are wearing masks. That's fine. There are people who really need to wear masks. There are people who can't feel at ease without a mask. If you're anxious about not acting like the majority and might throw up, you should definitely act like the majority. MORE masks, LESS vomit. I acknowledge the existence of those people, and yet, I simply ignore them.
So, how can one ignore effectively? I think you just need to think, 'I don't mind being disliked.' Or, 'I can't please everyone.' That's fine. I've been considered a 'difficult person' for a long time. Some people click with me, but others have absolutely no connection. So, that's fine. People who dislike me, people who find me troublesome, coexist, and that's okay. After all, I just ignore them.
I will face what I believe in 'unmasked,' and continue to express myself. That's fine. There are many people within my sphere of life who criticize the world I live in and my art. If you dislike me, dislike me all you want. As for me, I'll probably just ignore you.
… This ability to 'ignore' even the understanding and actions of emotions (pausing for a moment) is gradually becoming my natural flow, I feel these days.
